About the Author

This is me: the author. And the illustrator.

I got a BA in English, but I haven't had a proper art class since high school... So, I feel a little more qualified to do the authoring bit than the illustrating bit.

I work in a library, surrounded by books and quiet and my imagination.

I used to work with a guy named Michael who was always trying to persuade me to write comics for him. I always refused. But then I wrote the first twelve strips of Brenna & Jones and I gave it to him. I don't know if he ever really wanted to do anything with them. He never said he wanted to do anything with them. But it doesn't matter because I decided to do something with them, so now he can't.

One time, I really did see a ghost in the library.

He was in the 800s. At closing, I was checking the stacks for any straggling patrons, and there he was. He was tall and round and had blond hair. One second, he was looking at the writing manuals, and the next second, he was gone.

I never saw him again, so, in retrospect, he probably wasn't real.

But I've spent a lot of time shelving books and thinking about him.

I like that idea. The ghost in the library. So, here it is: the creative product of working and dreaming and wondering around a library.
